LAOS PRESIDENT ENDS THREE-DAY VISIT TO MALAYSIA

SEPANG, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- President Choummaly Sayasone of Laos left for
Bangkok Friday after a three-day visit to Malaysia.

Sayasone and wife Keosaychay Sayasone as well as members of the Laotian
delegation, comprising cabinet ministers and senior officials, left on a
Malaysia Airlines flight at KL International Airport (KLIA) here at 12.25pm.

At the airport to bid him farewell were Science, Technology and Innovation
Minister Dr Maximus Ongkili and Deputy Foreign Minister Senator A.
Kohilan Pillay.

This was his first visit to Malaysia, to reciprocate the visit by King
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin to Laos in 2008.

Earlier Friday morning, President Choummaly and wife visited the Malaysian
administrative capital, Putrajaya, and were taken on a cruise ride at Putrajaya
Lake.

He was also briefed on the development of Putrajaya by Putrajaya Corporation
president Samsudin Osman.

Present were members of the Laotian delegation.

Speaking to reporters, Samsudin said Sayasone had requested to visit
Putrajaya.

"He also invited us to take the numerous opportunities available in Laos'
development," he said, adding that Putrajaya Corporation was ready to provide
consultation service there.

Sayasone had arrived on Wednesday and was accorded a state welcome at
Parliament Square.

He had also met Najib Tun Razak and was hosted to a state dinner
by King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

While here, he had also visited the Petronas Twin Towers and Wisma Felda.

Malaysia established a diplomatic relation with Laos in Julai 1966.
