FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT AIMS TO PROVIDE HELP IN 10 MINUTES
KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia), Nov 30 (Bernama) -- To improve its image, the Fire and Rescue Department aims to arrive at incident scenes within 10 minutes of being called for nearby locations and 20 minutes for far-away sites.
Its director-general, Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim, said Monday the department would ensure speedy response to emergency calls following allegations that it had been slow in providing assistance in the past.
"The department has set a feedback duration which is our Key Performance Indicator. Delays in arriving at the scene will create losses when the fire cannot be controlled and belongings cannot be salvaged," he told reporters after his first working visit to the Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department here.
Wan Mohd Nor presented five fire engines, 10 utility vehicles, four four-wheel drives and a special fire investigation vehicle to the state department.
