CIVIL SERVANTS NEED TO INCULCATE INNOVATION, SAYS MINISTER
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Civil servants need to inculcate
creativity and innovation in their work to drive Malaysia towards becoming an
innovative and knowledge-based country, said Women, Family and Community Development
Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
She said without innovation and creativity, changes implemented will have a slow
or no effect on the public.
"We must not be scared to make changes or else we will be left behind. All
government ministries and agencies need to compete to make these changes.
"Innovative changes will be accepted positively by the community, and agencies
need to support this concept," she said while speaking at the launching of the
ministry's Innovation Day 2010, here Tuesday.
She said the innovation and creativity culture was a prerequisite to achieve
national development based on an efficient and effective service delivery
process.
Besides that, she said innovation and creativity would also create a first-class
work culture among employees that meet the demands and expectations of clients
and the environment.
Meanwhile, the ministry-level Innovation Competition was won by the Tengku
Budriah Orphanage in Cheras with their Mobile Baby Bath Tub invention.
The invention increased the effectiveness and management of bathing
pre-mature babies and can be operated anywhere, especially when the baby is
quarantined.
