Foreign adviser, Kuwaiti DPM talk workers issues
DHAKA, Bangladesh, Aug 7 (BSS) - Foreign Adviser of Bangladesh caretaker

Chowdhury had a telephonic discussion last night with Deputy
Prime Minister of Kuwait Dr Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-
Sabah on issues pertaining to Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait.
Disclosing this to newsmen at his office, the adviser termed
the conversation as extremely "warm and cordial". He said Sheikh
Mohammed assured him that the vast majority of honest, dedicated
and hard working Bangladeshis will not suffer for the faults of a
few.
The discussion followed a letter from Dr Iftekhar to Sheikh
Mohammed, who is also the foreign minister.
+He recalled the service that Bangladesh had rendered to
Kuwait by sending soldiers to fight side by side with the
Kuwaitis to protect that country's sovereignty.
Dr Iftekhar thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his
personal initiatives with regard to resolution of the problems of
Bangladeshi workers and through the Deputy Prime Minister the
Cabinet for their recent decision on fixing the minimum wage for
foreign workers.
Asked whether he would visit Kuwait in this connection, he
said a lot of preparations were needed for a visit like this.
"But we must resolve the issue when the matter is still hot." He
said that a visit might take place during the current month.
The adviser pointed out that problems like this could be
resolved through diplomatic efforts. He said many such issues
were resolved through diplomatic channels.
