Rupee down 7 paise against dollar



Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) Dollar demand at the fag end of
trading on Thursday pulled the the Indian rupee down by seven
paise to 45.16/17 vis-a-vis the American currency.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the
local unit initially shot up by 44.95 but soon declined to
45.20 on before ending at 45.16/17 per dollar.
The local currency on Wednesday closed at 45.09/10.
A forex dealer said good dollar demand from importers in
view of rising crude oil prices in the international markets
mainly affected the rupee value.
Brent crude prices reached two-year high of above US
90 per barrel in Asian trade.
Meanwhile, the benchmark Sensex on the Bombay Stock
Exchange eased further by 33 points or 0.16 per cent on
