Tropical storm heavily hits northern Vietnam

Ha Noi (VNA)- Tropical storm Kammuri, that slashed northern provinces > on August 8, has left an estimated 100 locals either killed, injured or > missing and caused heavy material damages.

> The northern mountainous province of Yen Bai reported 25 deaths and
> four missing up to 16h local time on August 9. The natural disaster has
> submerged over 1,100 ha of rice and other food crops field while sweeping
> away or pulling down 21 homes.

> Flash floods and landslides have also been reportedly wrecking havoc to
> other provinces, with mountainous communities hardest hit.

> In an effort to cope with the calamity, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung
> Hai circulated an office dispatch asking affected provinces to take
> immediate action to search for and rescue the missing and provide supplies
> for the victims instantly.
