Markets in inner Vientiane to be further moved out
VIENTIANE,05 JAN.(KPL)- Some non-permanent markets and markets in populous communities will be further moved off to the outskirt of Vientiane Capital.
This is a plan for the next five-year period of Vientiane Capital to be implemented till 2015.
The relocation of markets is based on the development of infrastructure and economy and social growth of Vientiane Capital, which has been growing steadily and the living conditions of people are better off.
To come near the realities, Vientiane Capital and authorities concerned have so far developed many markets but also relocated new markets out of the inner districts which are populous communities to the outskirts.
Till 2015, the Industry and Commerce Service of Vientiane Capital plans to develop a network of markets in the Capital by expanding more market space to 410,000 square metres, up by 11,842 square metres.
Under the five-year plan, non-permanent markets and markets that cause traffic jams and are not environment-friendly would be surely relocated to outside Vientiane Capital or to villages where markets are not available.
Till 2015, new markets will ensure serve at least five villages.
There are 73 markets, 39 relocated markets, including 12 new markets, eight upgraded markets and 14 markets have been improved in Vientiane Capital.
