Nepal told the Foreign Secretary that political
parties are working towards forming a national consensus
government soon as per the call made by the President.
The Special Committee comprising representatives of
the major political parties will take up the responsibility of
monitoring of the arms and the armies after the UN Mission's
exit, he pointed out.
The formal ceremony of handing over of monitoring
works to the Special Committee will take place on Saturday in
Chitawan, where one of the cantonments is located, he said.
The Prime Minister also reiterated Nepal's invitation
to Indian President and Prime Minister to visit the Himalayan
Republic during the meeting.
Rao will meet top leaders of various political parties
tomorrow, including Maoist chief Prachanda, while she will
meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala
on Thursday before concluding her three-day official visit.
