Gifts presented to Vietnamese pupils in Moscow

Moscow (VNA) - The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) has presented 1,000 text books on Vietnamese history and language, and Dong Ho folk paintings and postcards to School No. 282 in Moscow where close to 150 Vietnamese pupils are studying.

COVA Acting Chairman Nguyen Thanh Son described School No. 282 as a "symbol of the Vietnam-Russia friendship" when he visited and handed over thesegifts to the school on August 12.

According to the Headmaster of School No. 282, Irina Egorova, Vietnamesechildren account for one third of the school's students.

She said the school organised activities for Vietnamese pupils on Vietnam 's National Day (September 2) and Reunification Day (April 30) to remind them of their origin and encourage them to learn about their homeland'shistory and culture.

The school will open an exhibition corner featuring Vietnam on the country's National Day this year, where the COVA's gifts will be exhibited, Headmaster Irina said.-
