Turkish economy minister says for 2011 the priority is economic stability

DAVOS (A.A) - 30.01.2011 - Turkey's economy minister has said the Turkish government's top economic policy target for 2011 was to make sure that economic stability takes a stronger foothold in the country.
"Stability is our top priority this year. Not economic growth but economic stability," Ali Babacan told the Anadolu Agency in Davos, Switzerland, where he participated in the World Economic Forum.
Babacan said Turkey had put all measures in place to protect the country's economy from possible downturns in global economy, adding that the measures were taken with "utmost caution."
"We are targeting a modest growth rate of around 4.5 percent. As modest as it is, I have to say it is still well above and faster one than the European figures," Babacan said.
