India keen on expanding trade ties with Pakistan: Sabharwal

Islamabad, Feb 2 (PTI) Indian High Commissioner Sharat
Sabharwal on Wednesday said steps will be taken to swiftly
issue visas to members of Pakistan's business community.
Sabharwal made the remarks during a meeting with
members of the Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants
Association in the southern financial hub of Karachi.
"Business visa will be processed and issued on
priority to PCDMA members," he said.
India is keen on expanding trade ties with Pakistan
and the business community of both countries have cordial
relations, he said.
Pakistan imports chemicals, dyes, spices and plastic
products in large quantities from India and the level of
bilateral trade can be increased to USD 10 billion through
joint efforts, he said.
Referring to the SAFTA agreement, Sabharwal said it
would be productive if Pakistan accords India the Most
Favoured Nation status.
PCDMA chairman Muhammad Haroon Agar drew the High
Commissioner's attention to delays in the issuance of business
visas and requested him to simplify visa procedures.
