Turkish State Minister says Sudan's not expecting problems on referendum process

KHARTOUM/ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik said that Sudan's President Umar al-Bashir was a leader who contributed in peace and the referendum process in Darfur.
He is different from the other leaders in the region, added Celik who assessed his meeting with al-Bashir (held on Sunday in Khartoum) on his way back to Turkey on Monday.
Noting that they discussed the referendum in Sudan with al-Bashir, Celik said that Sudan overcame the referendum process successfully, and they were not expecting a problem to emerge. Celik added that the result of the referendum would probably be "separation".
We discussed to increase the trade volume between Turkey and Sudan which is currently 250 million USD, said Celik, adding that the potential between the two countries was high.
When asked whether Sudan's separation would affect the commercial relations between Turkey and Sudan, Celik said that it would not be a problem for Turkey, adding that Turkey would be in contact with both north and south of Sudan.
