Vietnam cuts petrol retail price

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam slashed its petrol retail price by 1,000 VND or nearly 5.3 percent on August 14 amid dropping world oil prices.

According to a decision issued by the Ministry of Finance, the retail price of lead-free A92 petrol, most commonly used for vehicles, declined to 18,000 VND per liter from 19,000 VND.

The price of kerosene dropped to 19,000 VND from 20,000 VND.

The Ministry of Finance said the downward revision is aimed at minimising adverse impacts on life and production, particularly for businesses.

O n July 21, Vietnam raised the retail price of lead-free A92 petrol by 4,500 VND, mainly to lower state subsidy.

The country has so far this year raised the prices twice and lowered once. Its first upward revision this year took place on February 25.-Enditem
