First International Executive MBA launched in Qatar

Doha, February 14 (QNA) -Qatar s first international Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program has been launched by HEC Paris in Qatar (HEC-Q), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
The program is designed to provide executives with a set of fundamental tools and skills which expand their knowledge and leadership capabilities while they continue to work.
The 14-16 month part-time program begins this week with a module on The Fundamentals of Leadership. Participants will also complete modules in Business Performance Management, Marketing, and Corporate Strategy.
They will later select from a range of six majors which will be delivered by partners in Europe, Asia or the Americas. Among the options are Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Management in an Energy-Concerned Economy.
The inaugural EMBA class, which will graduate in 2012, is made up of managers, directors and executives from Qatar, the Gulf region and beyond. Members have a variety of career backgrounds, including the energy and manufacturing industries, new technologies, transport, finance, and the public sector. Leading international corporations represented include GDF Suez, HSBC, Dohaland and Qatar Petroleum.
The program is the result of an agreement between HEC Paris and Qatar Foundation, signed in June 2010, under which HEC Paris offers its world-class executive education programs in Doha.
HEC Paris in Qatar (HEC-Q) is the most recent and first European addition to QF s Education City, which houses seven world-class branch campuses, including Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Weil Cornel Medical College in Qatar. It is also the first member of Qatar Foundation s Management, Education, and Research Center (MERC).
HEC Paris will also bring leading academics and guest speakers from the international business community to Qatar.
Dr Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Vice President, Education, Qatar Foundation, said: "HEC Paris is the leading business school in Europe and one of the best in the world. Its highly successful EMBA program will enable executives to become better leaders within their organizations, and help them respond to the challenges of the growing economy of Qatar and the Gulf region. At the same time, HEC Paris will reinforce Qatar s status as a leader in the field of education and research, and contribute to the goal of building a knowledge-based economy of Qatar."
HEC Paris Dean Bernard Ramanantsoa said: "This program is a strategic expansion of HEC Paris international portfolio, and demonstrates the school s global reach. We are honored to partner with Qatar Foundation, and contribute, through our 130-year expertise, to the competitiveness of firms in Qatar and in the region."
A defining feature of the program is the opportunity for participants in Qatar to undertake modules in other HEC locations around the globe and to join a global alumni network of more than 45 000 HEC graduates worldwide.
