Cabinet approves President's address to Parliament


New Delhi, Feb 15 (PTI) Indian President Pratibha
Patil's address to the joint sitting of Parliament on the
opening day of the Budget Session on February 21 was on
Tuesday approved by the Union Cabinet.
The Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by the country's Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh, gave its nod to the address which
will outline the United Progressive Alliance government's
policies and programmes for 2011-12.
The general budget will be presented to Lok Sabha (the
lower house of the Parliament) on February 28 by the Indian
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The session will be in two
parts -- the first upto March 16 and the second from April 4
to April 21.
The Railway Budget will be presented to the lower House
on February 25.
The recess between the two parts of the session will be
used by standing committees of various ministries to
scrutinise the budgetary demands for grants. PTI RC
