Qatar Signs Protocol with Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, February 16 (QNA) - Qatar and Malaysia signed Wednesday protocol amending some provisions of the convention on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Malaysia.
The protocol was signed by Jassim Al-Muftah, Manager of public revenues and taxes at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Wan Abdul Aziz bin Wan Abdullah, General Secretary of Treasury in the Malaysian Ministry of Finance.
The signing of the Protocol is coming as Qatar is adopting the principle of transparency and information exchange for tax purposes in accordance with the standards set by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and in the line of supporting the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The State of Qatar joined the Global Forum of transparency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development last September.
