UNODC Executive Director Lauds Role of Criminal Information Centre


Doha, February 17 (QNA) - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Executive Director Yury Fedotov has hailed the role of GCC Criminal Information Centre for Combating Drugs here.
The UNODC official visited the Centre yesterday, the Ministry of Interior said in a media statement here today.
Director of the Centre Colonel Saqr Rashid Al Muraikhi received Fedotov and briefed him on the Centre's activities, its role in fighting crime and ways of enhancing co-operation between the Centre and other nodal agencies.
Fedotov expressed his happiness over the co-operation with the Centre and its initiatives with other GCC countries.
"The UNODC will contribute in supporting and strengthening the capabilities of the Centre in all possible ways," said Fedotov.
He praised the Centre's efficiency in fighting the menace of drugs and engagements with member countries in this field.
Colonel Al Muraikhi stressed the importance of the Executive Director's visit and enhancement of the co-operation between the Centre and the UNODC.
"The Centre and the UNODC will sign agreement, in a few days, on technology for analyzing information related with fighting drugs and crime," said Al Muraikhi.
