KUWAIT, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has played major role in supporting joint Arab work at various levels, Secretary General of the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Abbas Ali Naqi said here on Monday. Kuwait marks this month the 50th Anniversary of Independence, 20th Anniversary of Liberation and Fifth Anniversary of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of power, also Kuwait is one of three countries who established OAPEC in 1968 and hold its headquarters, Naqi told KUNA.
Kuwait is known for participating in numerous Arab and International organizations and institutions as well as offering faculties, he added.
Naqi pointed out that Kuwait provided many faculties to OAPEC enabling it perform its goal, pointing out that during 43 years, OAPEC has organized many Petroleum events in Kuwait.
T he main events are the OAPEC meetings of Ministers, executive office, and conferences, meetings, seminars relevant to scientific sector oil, gas, energy and environment, he explained.
Naqi noted that Kuwait supplies for global oil industry as one of the founding nations of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), based in Austria's capital, Vienna.
Kuwait carried out massive oil projects in and outside Kuwait which includes, exploration, drilling, refining, petrochemical, transportation and marketing, in addition Kuwait's oil sector is working on oil projects solo and jointly with Arab and foreign countries, he said.
Naqi congratulated H.H. the Amir. H.H. the Crown Prince and all OAPEC workers as well as Kuwaiti citizens on Kuwait's National celebrations.
