Kashmir interlocutors hold talks with Governor in Jammu

Jammu (PTI) - The three Government-appointed
interlocutors on Kashmir on Monday held discussions with
Governor N N Vohra on a range of issues as they embarked on
their fifth visit to the state in four months.
The panel comprising journalist Dileep Padganokar,
academician Radha Kumar and former election commissioner M M
Ansari met Vohra at Raj Bhawan and discussed issues relating
to law and order situation, development, governance and
emerging political ideologies in the state, officials said.
Later, they held deliberations with Chief Secretary Madav
Lal on matters relating to governance, development, finance,
planning and fund allocations.
The team had extended an invitation for a meeting with
separatist leadership in the Valley, including Syed Ali Shah
Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Sajjad Lone. However, there
has been no response so far from separatists to the
invitation.
The team had earlier visited the state on October 23,
November 10, December 17 last year and January 18 this year.
After their previous visits, the panel had submitted
several recommendations to the Centre including expediting
cases of undertrials, permitting peaceful protests and
releasing militants and protesters against whom there are no
serious charges.
The team is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Omar
Abdullah, Agriculture minister Gulam Hassan Mir and heads of
State Information Commission and State Human Rights Commission
on Tuesday.
The interlocutors will leave for Kashmir Valley on
February 23.
