Transfer of "6" schools from ADEC to the Institute of Applied Technology
Abu Dhabi, Feb 28, 2011 (WAM) - Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) and Abu Dhabi Technical and Vocational Training Centre, represented by the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) signed an agreement to transfer "6" public schools located in Al Wagan and Al Quaa areas of Al Ain and Delma Island to be under IAT's supervision.
These schools are cycle 2 and cycle 3 Omaima Bint Abdul Mutallab school for girls, Cycle 2 and cycle 3 Al Farazdak school for boys in Delma Island, Algharbia area, Cycle 2 and cycle 3 Albadiya school for girls and cycle 2 and cycle 3 Alwajn school for girls in Alwajn area, cycle 2 and cycle 3 Danat school for girls and cycle 2 and cycle 3 Alkoo school for boys in Alkoo area in Alain.
Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, ADEC's Director General, said that this partnership stems from our belief in the importance of upgrading human potentials and qualifications for their vital and direct contribution to achieving the goals set out in the sustainable development program goals the government seeks to meet through fostering the sharing of experience and the concerted efforts of the different sectors and regions.
He affirmed that the transfer of the supervision of the six schools located in Al Ain and Delma island to IAT will be an important step towards achieving goals and will help benefit from their experiences and competencies in operating and managing schools in accordance with our wise leadership's vision to enhance the education system.
Dr Mugheer added that technical and vocational education is viewed to be a corner stone for tech industries as well as a very important component supporting plans and initiatives aspiring to develop the economy and to build an infrastructure that promotes advanced industries, indicating that those students pursuing vocational education are regarded as the backbone of advanced industries and that the agreement provides all students living off-island with more technical and vocational training options available in Alkoo, Alwajn and Delma island.
He noted that the agreement with Abu Dhabi technical and vocational training centre stipulates that "IAT, one of the centre's affiliates, is to supervise those schools which is a sign that we recognise IAT's extensive experience operating Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 vocational schools with the aim to ensure qualified technical and professional output."
For his part, Engineer Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, chairman of the board of trustees of IAT, said that "this agreement concurs with our leadership's eagerness to continue working in partnership with governmental organisations to create a comprehensive vocational and technical education system by means of which we seek to build a modern Emirati citizen who can contribute effectively to sustaining the country's economic development in general and to realising Abu Dhabi 2030 economic vision in particular." The agreement stipulates that the institute pledges that the curricula to be delivered in the schools will comprise the three streams (science, technology, arts), while ADEC is to provide all the books and curricula.
