FOREIGN MINISTER PRESENTS KPI TO HEADS OF MISSION TUESDAY

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- Four ambassadors and high commissioners designated to various countries received the Key Performance Indicator (KPI)from Foreign Minister Anifah Aman at his office in Putrajaya, Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement here today, said the recipients of the KPI are High Commissioner-designate to Canada Hayati Ismail, High Commissioner to Brunei Abdullah Sani Omar, Ambassador to Laos Than Tai Hing, Ambassador to Ukraine Chuah Teong Ban.

"In addition, Anifah also conveyed the KPI to the President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taipei Yong Teck Shing," it said.

KPI was a jargon term for a type of measure of performance and provided the direction and outlined specific tasks for foreign missions which required them to perform in discharging their duties, the statement said.

"The foreign missions are tasked to explore opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations namely in trade, investment, tourism, education and direct air links.

"Their active engagement such as at various meetings, conferences and consultations should be geared to achieve their KPI. The minister reminded the Heads of Mission the importance of encouraging Malaysians abroad to register with Malaysian Missions," it said.

Anifah also reminded them to extend necessary assistance to Malaysians in need and to focus on resolving outstanding issues including assisting and facilitating Malaysian business operations.

He said the dynamic and volatile global environment required them to provide analytical, accurate and timely assessment about issues that might turn into a crisis which might affect Malaysia's interest.
