EADC, Alsthom to sign agr in Paris on coop'n with Skolkovo
PARIS, March 2 (Itar-Tass) - A ceremony to introduce Russia's
innovations center Skolkovo is to be held in the French capital on
Wednesday. During the ceremony, which is to take place at the Embassy of Russia, the sides are to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between Skolkovo and the European companies EADC (Enthoven Associates Design and Consultancy) and Alsthom. The ceremony is to be attended by RF
Vice-Premier Alexander Zhukov.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Russian delegation will tour the cities of Evry and Grenoble, where in the presence of French Minister for Higher Education and Research Valerie Pecresse, they will acquaint themselves with the operation of large research centres that specialize in new technologies. The delegation is also to meet with members of the scientific and business communities of France.
A company winning an international competition on the elaboration of an urban development concept of the Skolkovo innovations center is
expected to be officially annoucned in Paris.
A project presented by the French architectural association AREP has been recognized as the best one. Novelty of vision of the urban
environment, life quality, and effectiveness of the transport
infrastructure were among criteria for the selection of concepts. Five
modern centers in line with future areas of science city research efforts, as well as a university will be established in the territory of Skolkovo.
This research complex in the Moscow Region is called upon to become Russia's major "innovation capital foundation" in the fields of energy, computer technologies, and biomedicine. Such world-famous companies as the Intel, Siemens, Microsoft, Cisco, and Nokia have already expressed a wish to be partners in the project.
Support for research projects at the so-called startup stage is one of important areas of the science city activities. Twenty-eight projects, authored mostly by young Russian scientists, have already become part of the Skolkovo reserch activities since December 2010.
The Skolkovo Foundation's Board of Trustees is headed by RF President Dmitry Medvedev. Nobel Prize Winners Roger Kornberg and Zhores Alfyorov are Co-Chairmen of the Skolkovo Consultative Scientific Council.
