Gorbachyov's home village produces documentary about him
ESSENTUKI, Stavropol Territory, March 2 (Itar-Tass) - The first issue of the rural municipality newspaper Privolnoye Vesti in Stavropol Territory on Wednesday is dedicated entirely to Mikhail Gorbachyov and his 80th jubilee. The future First President of the Soviet Union was born in Privolnoye Village on March 2,1931.
Vyacheslav Bryzhakhin, head of the Privolnoye rural council, has told Itar-Tass, "The Wednesday edition of the newspaper is fully dedicated to congratulations to Mikhail Gorbachgyov and to stories villagers relate about him".
Bryzhakhin said the villagers are also porducing a documentary film about Gorbachyov. In the film, they share their reminiscences about the Architect of Perestroika, his childhood years, and about several generations of the Gorbachyov kin. A large amount of archival material has been prepared.
"Scenic views and landscape panoramas are to be shot. Therefore, the film is to be completed in summer to show the Privolnoye Village in all its blossoming beauty," the rural council chief pointed out.
A delegation of villagers will participated in the jubilee
celebrations at the Gorbachyov Foundation in Moscow. "This is a great
honour and responsibility for us to take part in the celebration of this historic date. We have prepared gifts to the Foundation from Gorbachyov's home village, among them a splendid large vase specially decorated with the views and symbols of the Privolnoye Village, painted by Kislovodsk craftsmen," Bryzhakhin related.
