Turkey's flag carrier air company expecting 28 percent growth in 2011

BOLOGNA (A.A) - 02.03.2011 - Turkey's national air carrier, the Turkish Airlines, eyes a growth of 28 percent in 2011, said director of the company's Italy office.
"2010 has been a very successful year for the Turkish Airlines. And we are planning to maintain that success with a 28 percent growth rate for 2011," Tarkan Ince told a ceremony held at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport to march the first anniversary of THY's maiden flight to this Italian city.
Bologna was added as THY's 120th international destination in 2010, Ince said, adding that the destination proved profitable just a year after it was launched.
Ince said Skytrax, an UK-based private aviation research firm, has named the THY as the best airlines company in Southeast Europe and it awarded the THY's economy class as the best in the world.
Ince also said THY was set to add in 2011 Genova, Napels, and Turin to its international destinations with direct flights.
THY has recently received "the World's Market Leadership Award for 2010" from the Air Transport World, one of the major publications of the international aviation sector.
Based in Istanbul, THY is one of the fastest growing and prosperous airlines in the world. THY, a Star Alliance member, carries approximately 25 million passengers a year.
THY posted 389 million Euro of profit in 2009, becoming one of the top companies, following Air China and Ryan Air, in the world that recorded the highest profit in 2009.
