Turkey's annual inflation up 4.16 p.c. year-on-year in consumer prices

ANKARA (A.A) - 03.03.2011 - Turkey's annual inflation was up 4.16 percent year-on-year in consumer prices in February 2011.
Turkey's statistical authority, TurkStat, made public annual inflation figures in February 2011 and said the inflation was up 10.87 percent year-on-year in producer prices and 4.16 percent in consumer prices.
The monthly inflation was up 0.73 percent in consumer prices, and the monthly rise in producer prices was 1.72 percent in February 2011 which were over the expectations.
The market's consumer prices index (CPI) expectation for February was 0.60 percent, and it was 1.30 percent in producer prices index (PPI). 
According to the 12-month average, inflation was up 7.76 percent.
When compared with the same month of the previous year, the CPI rose 7.36 percent in goods and services, 6.03 percent in transportation, 5.35 percent in clothing and shoes, 4.66 percent in house goods, 4.53 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.38 percent in housing, 4.35 percent in education and 1.29 percent in health. 
The CPI fell 1.97 percent year-on-year in entertainment and culture, 1.50 percent in communication, and 1.51 percent in tobacco.
There was no change in average prices of 67 of 445 items in the CPI basket, however prices of 264 of them were up and prices of 114 of them were down.
The PPI was up 1.72 percent month-on-month, 10.87 percent year-on-year and 9.23 percent in 12-month average in February 2011.
The agricultural sector index was up 2.15 percent month-on-month, 12.86 percent year-on-year and 19.07 percent in 12-month average. The same figures for industrial sector index were 1.63 percent, 10.44 percent and 7.17 percent respectively.
