Putin to meet his party activists in Bryansk
BRYANSK, March 4 (Itar-Tass) -- Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will
visit Bryansk, 400 kilometers southwest of Moscow, on Friday to meet local activists of his United Russia ruling party a week before regional parliamentary elections which observers describe as a crucial test on the eve of the December election to the State Duma.
Putin, who is the United Russia leader, will address a party
conference and tell the activists about economic development strategy for the Central federal district of Russia up to 2020 and the tactics for 2011-2012.
Head of the Central Executive Committee of United Russia Andrei
Vorobyov admitted the conference is timed to the regional election
campaign.
"The United Russia proposes concrete initiatives. Our creed is to fill in projects with concrete content. Therefore, our programs are clearly formulated and understandable for citizens and enjoy support of the population," he said.
The United Russia will offer programs in seven nominations to Putin - innovations, agriculture, infrastructure, construction, education, health care, culture and sports.
The winners will enjoy federal support and "additional sources of
financing from various funds", Vorobyov said.
"Central Russian regions can and shall have a more competitive
economy," he added.
He said "there will be a serious and concrete discussion" with Putin and that conference participants "expect answers to the most sensitive questions."
"I am sure such concrete and substantive work will allow to progress and resolve issues of interest for every resident of the Central federal district," Vorobyov said.
