Russia, Turkey to discuss Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline
KAZAN, March 4 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor
Sechin and Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz will meet in the capital of Tatarstan on Friday to discuss the Samsum-Ceyhan oil pipeline project which is to link the Black Sea and the Mediterranean coasts.
The press service of Tatarstan's President Rustam Minnikhanov, who met Yildiz on Thursday and will participate in negotiations on Friday, said the talks will focus on cooperation in industry, energy, trade, transportation, and agriculture.
According to Russian customs, bilateral trade turnover comprised 19.6 billion dollars in 2009. Turkey accounts for 4 percent of the Russian foreign trade turnover, while Russia - for 9.3 percent of Turkish trade.
Yildiz said at the meeting with Minnikhanov that Turkey is creating nuclear power engineering with Russian assistance and is getting oil and gas from Russia.
