VIENTIANE,MAR 03.(KPL) -Provincial governors of the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Thailand have agreed on the necessity of opening more border checkpoints along the border. The agreement was made during their 8th meeting held in Luang Prabang, northern Laos, on March 2.
The delegation of Lao provincial governors was led by Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Seng-aphone and the Thai side was headed by Minister of Interior Chavarat Charnvirakul.
Both sides aimed their discussion at the facilitation and safety of the immigration of the peoples of the two countries, the upgrading of border checkpoints, the prevention and suppression of drug abuse as well as the embankment and exploitation of sand and stones along the river and the Heuang River.
