Vientiane Women’s Union reviews work ahead of March 8
VIENTIANE,MAR 03.(KPL) -Vientiane Capital Women’s Union yesterday held a meeting to review its performance over the last one year ahead of the celebration of the 101st International Women’s Day, 8 March.
Held at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC), the meeting was also aimed at approving the annual plan for 2011 of the Women’s Union.
History of international women movements around the world was also presented at the event.
Social activities that will be staged by the Vientiane Capital Women’s Union in cooperation with the wives of Party and State leaders for 2011 were read at the meeting.
Presided over by Vientiane Mayor Sombath Yialiheu, the meeting was attended by the management and members of the local Women’s Union.
The 2011 annual plan of Vientiane Women’s Union includes the organisation of orientation workshops on rules of the Lao Women’s Union, working routine and ethics, work planning, and laws and legal instruments on women affairs.
The plan also includes raising awareness on rules and regulations on rights protection for women and children and life skills for women at risk of work accidents as well as the capacity building for women members at all levels on various areas and their education of political ideology.
In addition, vocational training is also planned for Women’s Union members in Vientiane Capital for 2011 as well as the improvement of service with the help of health facilities in the capital.
