U.S Embassy presents motorcycles for Lao anti-drug operations
VIENTIANE,MAR 04 (KPL) - The US Embassy in Laos last Friday presented 21 motorcycles, totally worth 187 million kip, and fuel to the National Commission for Drug Control and Supervision to further present to the Counter Narcotics Police, Ministry of Public Security and counter narcotic police units in eight priority provinces.
The handover ceremony was held in the premises of the Lao National Commission for Drug Control and Supervision in Vientiane between Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Chairman of the LCDC Soubanh Srithirath and US Ambassador to Laos Karen B. Stewart in the witness of relevant officials of both sides.
The assistance is aimed at strengthening the drug law enforcement by the police officers as well as their deterrence, investigation and arrest of narcotics traffickers and other law violators.
These contributions are part of ongoing and long-standing cooperation between the Lao PDR and the United States in fighting against illegal drugs trafficking.
