AIR TRAVEL & FREIGHT MARKET SEE STRONG REBOUND IN JANUARY
KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- Air travel and freight market volumes rebounded strongly in January, resuming upward trends, said the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
This followed the severe-weather induced dip in December, IATA said in its January/February 2011 issue of Airlines Financial Monitor released here Monday.
Among other key developments in the industry, it said airline share prices had underperformed by 10 per cent for the year till end February as oil prices surged.
The association said the pace of airline profit improvement also slowed down in the last quarter of 2010 as fuel prices started to squeeze margins.
