STRONG EARTHQUAKE HITS EAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN
KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- A strong 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the
east coast of Honshu, Japan, at 10.45am Wednesday, the Malaysian Meteorological
Department said.
In a statement, the department said, the quake's epicentre was located
4,391km north-east of Kudat, Sabah.
The earthquake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said, adding
that it was monitoring the situation.
