CBI to give detailed presentation on 2G scam to PAC

New Delhi, Mar 10 (PTI) The Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) will give a detailed presentation to
Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in April on the
alleged 2G spectrum scam detailing the role of different
people including Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of
Parliament and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's
daughter Kanimozhi who may be questioned very soon.
CBI (country's premier investigating agency) Director A
P Singh, who met PAC Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on Thursday,
is understood to have informed him that the agency was busy
finalising the chargesheet, to be filed by March 31 and a
detailed presentation about various facets of the case could
be given in April, official sources said.
Joshi had asked the Director to give a presentation on
the alleged scam.
He has asked him about the strength of the agency and
even advised him to get more officers seeing the wide spectrum
of corruption cases which have been referred to the CBI.
The agency is likely to question Kanimozhi and corporate
lobbyist Niira Radia with whom the DMK leader was allegedly in
constant touch with regards to Cabinet formation during 2009.
Singh is understood to have informed Joshi that the
chargesheet to be filed before March 31 is likely to carry
details of the role of Kanimozhi, they said.
The CBI director had appeared before the PAC last month
and told the members it was wrong to say that there was "zero
loss" to the national exchequer as a result of the 2G spectrum
allocations.
The probe agency had assured the Supreme Court of India
that it would file the first chargesheet about its
investigation into the scam that took place during the regime
of A Raja by March 31, 2011.
