Thai ICT industry expanding amid economic recovery: Survey

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) - Thailand’s information and communication technology (ICT) market is expected to grow some 11.7 per cent this year, worth nearly 700 billion baht, thanks to the recovering Thai economy.
The Thai National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre has published the country's ICT business prospect following its recent study on Thailand's ICT market performance in 2010--conducted through a series of in-depth interviews and business surveys across the country.
The survey found that Thailand's overall ICT market value reached some 600 billion baht last year. The study, which was jointly conducted by the Thai National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the Telecommunications Research and Industrial Development Institute, and the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), also assessed that the growing Thai ICT market value will exceed 670 billion baht next year.
Meanwhile, the study highlighted a sharp growth in Thailand's mobile phones sector, particularly in smart phones, thanks to a great demand for their advance hardware and software technologies. (TNA)
