Presidential source: holding parliamentary elections not possible based on current voters' rolls

SANA (Saba) - As the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum
(SCER) has amended Elections Law No. 6 for 2011 to register eligible voters, a presidential source has stated that the parliamentary elections could not be held on time.
Based on the current enforced law, the Commission made clear that it could not hold parliamentary elections on time according to the current voters' rolls until it revises
and amends voters' rolls in accordance with article No. 12 of Elections and Referendum Law.
The source further noted that the SCER will carry out registration and revision process according to the legal procedures and timeframes and that it will open voters' rolls
according to the law.
