NISSAN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS OPERATIONS IN JAPAN
KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd's Executive Director, Dr Ang Bon Beng, on Monday said that Nissan has temporarily suspended operations of all production facilities in Japan until March 16.
Japan was struck by a massive earthquake last Friday, leaving a trail of destruction and bringing to a halt most activities in the country.
Ang said Nissan will continue to assess the extent of damage to its facilities and equipment, as well as parts suppliers and a decision will be made following that.
"There is no immediate negative impact to our business as we hold the inventory of both complete knock-down (CKD) and complete built unit (CBU) forms," he said in a statement.
Ang said Nissan would continue to study how it can further assist with relief efforts after monitoring the damages.
Edaran Tan Chong Motor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd, is the sales and marketing arm of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia.
