From the 30-stock Sensex pack, 28 scrips ended in losses,
while only two finished with gains.
Jaiprakash Asso fell 3.80 per cent, followed by Maruti
Suzuki (3.55 pc), ONGC (3.42 pc), Sterlite Ind (3.25 pc), DLF
(3.15 pc), Wipro (3.15 pc), Tata Power (2.91 pc), BHEL (2.67
pc), M&M (2.67 pc), Larsen (2.34 pc), Hindalco (2.30 pc),
Bharti Airtel (2.29 pc), Infosys Tech (2.24 pc), ICICI Bank
(2.20 pc), Tata Motors (2.18 pc), NTPC (2.05 pc) and ITC (1.88
per cent).
Among the sectoral indices, BSE-Realty fell 3.14 per cent
followed by BSE-Auto - 2.03 per cent, BSE-Metal - 2.02 per
cent, BSE-Power - 2.01 per cent, BSE-CG - 1.99 per cent,
BSE-IT - 1.89 per cent and BSE-Teck by 1.81 per cent.
The total market breadth turned negative as 1,979 shares
ended, with losses while 847 finished with gains on BSE.
The total market turnover rose sharply to Rs 3,657.91
crore from Rs 2,982.18 crore on Monday. Tata Coffee showed the
highest turnover of Rs 267.90 crore, followed by Reliance
Capital (Rs 226.83 crore), Reliance Ind (Rs 203.49 crore),
Fineotex Chemical (Rs 134.49 core) and Tata Steel (Rs 120.40
crore).
