Officials contacted Dr. Mehmet Oz's brother-in-law Dr. Michael Lemore to ask for support for the treatment of Turkish singer Ibrahim Tatlises who has been recently shot in the head. In January, Dr. Lemole, brother of Dr. Mehmet Oz's wife of 25 years Lisa Oz, brought back to life U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who had been heavily injured during an armed attack. In the meantime, Acibadem Maslak Hospital has announced that Tatlises' health was better compared to a day earlier.
20 DEPUTIES DO NOT RUN AS CANDIDATES FROM AK PARTY
A total of 20 Justice and Development (AK) Party deputies have not announced their candidacy for the general elections to be held on June 12. Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin and former Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan are among those names.

Prof. Mehmet Haberal's attorney Dilek Helvaci said that Haberal suffered from deadly cardiac arryhthmia for 12 times after he was transferred to Silivri Prison. Helvaci also said that Haberal's heart stopped twice on March 13, the first one for 22 seconds at 12:45 p.m. and the second for 42 seconds at 4:17 p.m..

NUCLEAR RESPONSE
As the world follows with concern the nuclear disaster that occurred in Japan following the massive earthquake and tsunami, the discussions pertaining to nuclear power plants that would be established in Turkey became inflamed again.
When asked, "countries like Switzerland and Germany announce decisions to suspend and halt nuclear projects. Does Turkey think of suspending nuclear project?", Erdogan said it was out of question to suspend the projects.
Erdogan said, "industrialization, technology, modern world have difficulties as well as their advantages. An earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale demolishes the bridges not only the nuclear energy."

ERDOGAN SAYS TURKEY SUPPORTS LIBYAN PEOPLE
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said Turkey stands side by side with the Libyan people in their quest for peace, freedom and fraternity. "The Libyan people should close their ears for false allegations regarding our country. Turkey is not after oil wells in Libya. Turkey's central administration budget ran in February, 2011, a surplus of 988 million Turkish liras, Turkish Finance Ministry said on Tuesday. Budgetary expenditures were 23,568 million TL in February while incomes totaled 24,556 million TL. In the January-February period, the central administration budget ran a surplus of 1,993 million TL. The budget ran 5,392 million TL deficit in January-February period in 2010. Budgetary expenditures were 46,062 million TL in January-February period while incomes were 48,055 million TL.

CRISIS ON SHIP LADEN WITH WEAPONS
Israel launched an operation in the Mediterranean against Liberian flagged ship which set sail from southern province of Mersin on Sunday evening.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said they seized a large amount of weapons in the ship "Victoria", and noted the weapons in the ship which stopped by Mersin after Syria were originated from Iran. Israeli army spokesman's office said Turkey did not have links with the incident.
THREE PKK TERRORISTS KILLED IN SIRNAK
Three PKK terrorists were killed in clash with security forces in southeastern province of Sirnak.
According to the information aired in web-page of General Staff, troops deployed in rural areas of Guclukonak launched an operation after seeing the terrorist groups. Three terrorists were killed in the operation.

As people at Silivri prison are declared guilty due to computer print-outs, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not accept the Kayseri document (as evidence). Erdogan did not consider Ali Hamurcu's hand-written bribery notes, which were sent to him by Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu, as a "document". "They cannot be considered documents. There are not signatures on them," Erdogan said.

Julide Gulizar, one of Turkey's and TRT's first anchorwomen who was known as "the smiling face of the Turkish language", passed away at the age of 82 in Ankara the other night. Gulizar will be laid to rest in the Turkish capital today. Throughout her career, Gulizar was the representer of many innovations in broadcasting as she was the first "news reader in open air", "first live broadcaster" and "first interviewer". After 30 years of service at TRT, Gulizar worked as a writer, reporter and instructor in numerous agencies and press associations.

TURKISH PREMIER SAYS NUCLEAR PLANT CONSTRUCTION WILL START SOON
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said there was no change of plans regarding the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant in the country's southern Mediterranean shores. The nuclear plant will be set up by Russia. "Everything is going as planned. The 20 billion USD nuclear energy investment is starting," Erdogan told reporters in Moscow where he met the Russian president.

Unemployment dropped 2.1 points in December 2010 to 11.4 percent over the same period a year earlier. Jobless rate was 13.5 percent in December 2009. Non-agricultural unemployment was 14.2 percent as youth unemployment was 21.6 percent. The number of the unemployed decreased to 2,929 thousand in December 2010 from 3,361 thousand in December 2009. The number of the employed increased by 1,214 thousand to reach 22,665 thousand.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the latest developments on Turkey's agenda on his way to the Russian capital of Moscow. Critizicing Republican People's Party's forecasts about the upcoming general elections, Erdogan said, "I said I would quit if my party cannot come in first in the elections. I will not mention any figures, but what polls show is a vote rate of around 45-50 percent".

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke, addressing a meeting of the Confederation of Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) in Washington D.C., stated that they designated Turkey as "a market of priority" and noted they were in an effort to further strengthen ties.
"We need to do more to help deepen further our already strong relations. Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee has assigned Turkey as a market of priority. We plan to send to Turkey two trade mission groups to devise ways to boost deals in oil and gas as well as in renewable energy," Locke said.

Figures have shown that the rate of unemployed people in Turkey went down 2.1 percent in December, 2010 when compared to the same month a year ago and was recorded as 11.4 percent.
In December 2009, the rate of unemployed people was recorded as 13.5 percent.
