Turkey's chief EU official arrives in Washington for leadership conference, bilateral talks

WASHINGTON (A.A) - 16.03.2011 - Turkey's Chief Negotiator for European Union accession talks Egemen Bagis on Tuesday arrived in Washington to participate in a conference meeting as well as to hold a series of talks.
Bagis is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at "the Turkish American Leadership Conference" which is co-hosted by the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA) and the Federation of Turkish American Associations (TADF).
The three-day conference will seek ways to strengthen Turkish-American community as well as to boost Turkish-U.S. relations.
The conference will host Turkish Ambassador to the U.S. Namik Tan as well as Congresswoman and co-chair of the Congressional Turkey Caucus Virginia Foxx. 
Bagis will also hold a series of bilateral talks with several U.S. officials including Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, U.S.president's special assistant and senior director for European affairs at the National Security Council, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Joseph Burns.
Bagis is expected to return to Turkey on Saturday.
