SHIN YANG RESUMES SHIPPING SERVICES TO MOST JAPANESE PORTS

KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) -- Shin Yang Shipping Corporation Bhd has resumed operations to all other Japanese ports save for Sendai Port which was affected by Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia Exchange) Wednesday, it said all crew and the group's 13 cargo vessels serving the North-East Asia route which call on 16 ports in Japan are safe, it said.

Nevertheless, one of the vessels, "Thailine 8", had some suspected sectional damage to its bottom hull.

"The group is in the midst of arranging for immediate inspection/repair to enable the vessel to sail out from the affected port", it said.

The group does not foresee any major disruption to its operations arising from the incident.
