Turkish President: it's appropriate to act within the scope of the UN resolution on Libya
KIRIKKALE (A.A) - 18.03.2011 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that " We believe it is appropriate to act within the scope of international legitimacy" regarding UN Security Council's resolution on Libya.
The U.N. Security Council, meeting in emergency session, passed a resolution endorsing a no-fly zone. It also authorized "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from Qadhafi's forces.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Gul recalled their views that it was necessary to act in line with the international legitimacy regarding Libya issue.
Gul also expressed hope that no more blood would be shed in Libya.
According to unconfirmed reports, around 1,000 people have been killed in Libya during protests against Muammar al-Qadhafi's 42-year reign.
