MALAYSIAN FM: CHAOS IN OTHER MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES MIGHT BE UNFOUNDED

MEMBAKUT (Sabah, Malaysia), March 19 (Bernama) -- Concerns over the spread of political chaos to other Middle Eastern countries might be unfounded, at öleast for now, said Foreign Minister Anifah Aman Saturday.
“I think in other regions like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, there are no worries for something like that (chaos) to happen.
“In Saudi Arabia, the government was able to control the situation and prevent demonstrations from happening,” he told reporters after launching the Membakut School Parents and Teaches Association here.
He said the Malaysian embassies in the two regions had informed his ministry that such uprising was unlikely to occur.
Anifah was asked to comment on the matter, following revolts, of late, by the people of a number of countries in the Middle East against their governments.
Meanwhile, the minister said the government might be renting a special light by Yemeni Air to bring home the remaining Malaysians in Yemen.
“The situation in Yemen is quite tense right now, especially in Sanaa and Aden. We might not hesitate to bring all our people out of the country,” he said, adding that the government might also bring home about 600 Malaysians in Bahrain.
