Tasmeem Conference Probes Designer's Link

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - Design experts gave insights on two projects focussing on life amidst rapid economic development, titled 'Managing Life in a Construction Zone' and 'Health and Well-Being', here Monday, the first day of Tasmeem Doha 2011, the biennial design conference.
Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCU-Q) is hosting the four-day conference titled 'Synapse: Designer as Link' in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Qatar Foundation.
Design industry professionals, academia and students are attending the conference probing the challenges Qatar is facing in its quest for post-modern development while preserving its culture and tradition.
Various workshops are mulling Synapse projects which include 'Business Model Design and Development', 'Exploration of viral media', 'Exquisite Corpse Laser-Cut Totem'.
Four more workshops, designed for high school students Exploring Design in a 3D World: Conceptual Thinking for Young Interior Architects, What is it that Designers do?, Thinking through Drawing and Fantastic Fashion Creative Workshop are part of the conference.
Tasmeem 2011 with 14 speakers and 14 workshops, is an interdisciplinary and collaborative initative aiming to forge dynamic links between students, creative problem solvers, local community members, community stakeholders and VCUQatar. (QNA)
