Qatar Expresses Concern at Growing Anti-Islam Movements

Geneva , March 22 (QNA) - Qatar expressed its deep concern Tuesday at growing of extremist organizations that incite hatred against Arabs and Muslims.
Such organizations have stereotyped Muslims as a security threat and incited on abusing their holly books and figures a matter which contravenes the related international resolutions and laws.
Speaking at 16th edition of the Human Right's Council, the First Secretary to Qatar's Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Office in Geneva Fahad Al-Hajri said that Qatar supports organizations that fight against racism, "my country's delegation adds its voice to the statements made today by Arab, Islamic and non-alignment countries. We would also like to thank all institutions that are concerned with fighting against racism and racial discrimination as well as Xenophobia and all related forms of racism," he said.
He added that Qatar has made a number of decisions to encourage respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, it introduced these terms to school curricula which helped changed the attitudes of students and in turn other members of the society".
Al-Hajri also said that Qatar paid special attention to hosting a number of conferences that circle around religion and the agreement of civilizations. He also reimbursed Qatar's support to the Durban Review Conference in 2009 but added that more should be done, "we see that there are a lot of steps to be taken...to achieve the goals of the conference," he said.
