Police Begin Probe Over Sex Video

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Police are said to have begun an
investigation into the screening of a sex video allegedly involving an
opposition leader to selected journalists here on Monday.

It is learnt that several media practitioners were summoned by the police to
help in the investigation into the screening of the video at the Carcosa Seri
Negara Hotel here.

It is understood that they were asked to describe in detail the screening of
the video by three individuals who identified themselves as "Datuk T", the "T"
standing for trio.

The three individuals revealed themselves Wednesday as businessman Shazryl
Eskay Abdullah, former Melaka chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and
Shuib Lazim, treasurer of Malay right-wing group, Perkasa.

It is learnt that statements were recorded from the media practitioners at
the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

The investigation comes in the wake of a police report lodged Tuesday by
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim who denied that he was the man in the sex video
and charged that it was yet another conspiracy to malign him and his family and
tarnish his political career.
