Home Minister Warns Anwar Of Legal Action Over Sex Video

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- Home Minister Hishammuddin
Tun Hussein said Wednesday that he would consider legal action against
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim if the latter continued to link him and the
police force to the sex video allegedly involving an opposition leader screened
for selected journalists here on Monday.

He said Anwar's accusation had tarnished the image of the police force.

"As the minister responsible, I have the right to safeguard the image of the
police. If he (Anwar) continues to harp on the screening of the video as a
conspiracy, I will consider suing him.

"My lawyers are looking into the matter. It is to ensure that the integrity
of the police force is upheld. The primary concern is not whether it is a
conspiracy or otherwise. We will investigate whether the incident took place,"
he told reporters at the lobby of Parliament.

Anwar had alleged that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak,
Hishammuddin and the police were involved in exposing the sex video, said to
have been recorded at a hotel in the city on Feb 21.

Najib and Hishammuddin denied their involvement in the matter, and Anwar
lodged a police report Tuesday.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah,
former Melaka chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Shuib Lazim,
treasurer of Malay right-wing group, Perkasa, were the three people identified
as "Datuk T" who had screened the video for the journalists.
