Delhi LG sends report to the PMO

New Delhi, Mar 24 (PTI) In the backdrop of an official
committee naming him for inadequacies in connection with
Commonwealth Games, Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna has sent
a "detailed dossier" to the Prime Miniter's Office explaining
the circumstances leading to the offering a Rs 760-crore
bailout package to Games Village developer Emmar MGF.
Khanna took the action as the V K Shunglu Committee,
probing the CWG scams, never sought his comments and of the
officials involved while investigating the alleged
irregularities in Games Village project.
The Lt Governor, who is the ex-officio head of DDA,
has been indicted by the committee for alleged inadequacies in
the project which was implemented by DDA in a PPP mode with
the private developer.
In the 216-page dossier, "all the events and
circumstances" that led to the decision of offering a
financial assistance of Rs 760 crore to Emaar-MGF have been
explained while maintaining that it was the "best possible
solution" to overcome the "crisis."
"We have sent the dossier to the PMO a couple of days
ago explaining the situation that warranted the bailout
package to the developer," top sources in LG's office told
PTI.
The Shunglu committee report blamed a host of
officials, led by Khanna, for alleged acts of omission and
commission which brought undue gains to the project developer
and estimates that DDA suffered a loss of Rs 134-220 crore due
to the purchase of 333 flats at a higher rate, sources said.
