Will stand and fight: Kanimozhi
New Delhi, Mar 26 (PTI) Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam
(DMK) chief M Karunanidhi's daughter and party Member of
Parliament Kanimozhi says she will "stand and fight" even if
the CBI, India's premier investigating agency, names her in
the 2G spectrum scam chargesheet, which is expected to be
filed soon.
She also said she would continue to support former
Telecom Minister A Raja as long as the DMK extends support to
him.
"Whatever it is I will stand and fight. I am here to
stay," she said when asked what would she do if CBI names her
in the chargsheet in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
The Upper House of Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha, MP
also dismissed as "perceptions" reports that the 2G spectrum
scam will impact the party hugely in the April 13 Assembly
elections.
"See, right from the beginning we have been saying
that it is a perception, the allegations are based on
perception and the case is in court and let the process
go and let's see what comes out of it," she told NDTV.
"...I don't think this election is going to be decided
on perceptions. This election is going to be decided on what
has been done, black and white. What is being delivered by the
government; what is there for people to see," she said.
"I will continue doing and pursuing other interests
but I am here to stay. I will stay, fight and come out clean,"
she said in response to a specific query.
Kanimozhi also admitted that there was a "rift" in the
DMK's first family during the time of the United Progressive
Alliance-II cabinet formation.
"...Of course, there was a rift and then it happens in
every family, so why do you want to make an issue out of it?"
she asked.
She also strongly rejected criticism that promise of
mixies and grinders to people was indeed "free gifts", saying
they were not.
Asked how her father felt about the events in the past
4 months, including A Raja's arrest and CBI seeking
clarification from her on certain issues in 2G scam, Kanimozhi
said, "He has over 75 years of political career behind him and
I'm sure he has seen much more than all this to be disturbed
greatly by allegations, which are baseless."
