Winners of 8th Japanese Language Speech Contest

VIENTIANE,MARCH (KPL)- The 8th Japanese Speech Contest was held at the Vientiane Secondary School in Vientiane Capital last Saturday, to promote mutual understanding between Lao and Japanese people and Japanese language studies in Laos.
Twenty young Lao competitors presented their Japanese language skill in reciting Japanese texts and in delivering speeches which they had prepared themselves.
“Clear pronunciation and good grammar is a key to the victory of the students at the 8th Japanese Language Speech Contest”.
The speech contest consists of basic and intermediate levels and reciting Japanese texts.
The winner of reciting Japanese text was Miss. Ken-on Xaysomphone entitled “drinking person or Khon Mao”. The first runner-up was Miss. Amphavanh Sayavong and the second runner-up was Ms.Savina Romyet
The winner of the basic speech contest was Mr. Yeaher Touavang entitled “education for Hmong women. The first runner-up was Miss. Phetphouthone Sibounmara and the second runner-up was Mr. Thassaphol Vongkhamsao.
The winner of the intermediate level was Mr. Somsacksith Sitthivane entitled “why people cannot kill each other”. The first runner-up was Mr. Soulasith Luanghan and the second runner-up was Miss. Inpeng vilayhong.
“The Japanese Speech Contest has been organized each year since 2004 for promoting mutual understanding between Lao and Japanese people as well as Japanese language studies in Laos.
The contest was witnessed by Dr Ponmek Dalaloy, Minister of Public Health who is also President of the Lao-Japan Friendship Association, Mrs. Sengdouane Lachanthaboun, Vice Minister of Education who is also Vice President of the Lao-Japan Friendship Association and Mrs. Junko Yokota, Japanese Ambassador to Laos, government officials and teachers.
