Rodong Sinmun Calls for Adhering to Independence

Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Now the world political situation and the trend of the international relations urgently require every country to adhere to independence, Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in a bylined article.
If every country is to exercise its sovereignty, it should pursue an independent policy in external relations, the article notes, and goes on:
When a country blindly meets the demand of a big country and follows its policy, failing to maintain its independent stand in relations with other countries, it cannot protect its national interests and sovereignty but will be bound to meet the grave consequences of inviting domination and subjugation.
In order to achieve the independence of the popular masses it is also important for each country to exercise sovereignty with an attitude of being a master towards its own revolution and respect the sovereignty of other countries.
Today the imperialists unreasonably pressurize and threaten those countries which refuse to meet their unjust demands or oppose them and try to stifle them by force of arms.
They, indifferent to the rules and orders to be observed between countries, violate the international relations and orders to meet their own interests, throwing them into confusion.
The Korean people will as ever unite with the world progressives and wage a dynamic struggle to maintain independence under the uplifted banner of Songun, the banner of independence.
